When I noticed more safety reminders posted at the greyhound rescue where I volunteer, I saw an opportunity to help. I designed a pre-service eLearning course to reduce preventable incidents and prepare new volunteers with consistent, engaging training.
When I noticed more safety reminders posted at the greyhound rescue where I volunteer, I saw an opportunity to help. I designed a pre-service eLearning course to reduce preventable incidents and prepare new volunteers with consistent, engaging training.
I led the entire design and development process—from SME interviews and action mapping to storyboarding and building the course in Articulate Storyline 360. The training centers around the H.O.U.N.D. protocol that I created: a simple, memorable framework for safe kennel practices.
To create a friendly but focused tone, I introduced Sadie (a volunteer narrator) and her greyhound Gizmo as course guides. Scenario-based decision points encourage reflection and real-world application, while the visual design—circles, warm tones, and clean graphics—symbolizes the circle of care from intake to adoption.
The course complements in-person training and was praised by subject matter experts for its clarity, warmth, and learner readiness. Final approval is underway with the organization’s Board of Directors.
